This certification is meant for professionals who aim to develop applications by using MySQL as the back-end storage system. Students attending the training are able to create and use tables and databases. They become proficient in data storage in MySQL database. This involves tasks like insertion, retrieval, modification and deletion.
In order to achieve the Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Developer certification, students are required to clear both Part 1 and Part II exams. While it is advised that you clear Part 1 first and Part 2 later, the distinction in parts does not mean a difference in advancement level. Both the parts cover different expertise areas, and hence you can appear in the exams as per your choice.
This course was previously called SCMDEV, i.e. Sun Certified MySQL Developer. As the training is primarily about writing applications, the topics covered include functions, data types, queries, triggers, transactions, and stored procedures. The course curriculum also consists of practical sessions that tell you how to deal with complex queries.
